POWA Online General Meeting 2, 20th April, 2024

Location: POWA’s Discord voice chat room

On Saturday, the 20th of April, POWA will be hosting its second General Meeting of the 2024 year, on our Discord server.

All of POWA’s community are invited to attend this meeting to discuss POWA’s plans for 2024, as well as any topics of interest raised by the community that you want to bring to the discussion.

This General Meeting will start at 3:00pm, and so long as you have joined our Discord, you will have all you need to attend this meeting. Should you like to raise a point of discussion for the meeting, please contact the POWA committee through the POWA Discord group, the POWA Facebook group, POWA’s email at POWAClub@gmail.com, or by letting us know, in person, at POWA’s screening on the 14th of April.

If you have not yet joined our Discord, but want to do so, a link is available at the top of powaclub.com in the “About” field. You will need to create a Discord account prior to joining our Discord group.

The meeting is expected to last, at most, a few hours and will cover a variety of topics, particularly including what POWA intends to do over the next few months.

An agenda, outlining the predicted and intended topics for the meeting, is available here

Please do note that this agenda may change as the date of the meeting approaches.

If you have any questions, concerns or issues attending this meeting, do reach out to POWA using any of the above listed methods.

To those unable to attend the meeting at the time and day, minutes of the meeting will be made available to those who request them after the meeting.

POWA’s seasonal preview, to be held at Joondalup Library, will be held on the 21st of April, meaning this General Meeting will have no anime scheduled – it will be strictly business.

The event for the Seasonal Preview will contain all the details for that event.

We Hope to See You There!

POWA iPlay Bowling outing, March 24th, 2024

Location: iPlay, Westfield Whitfords City

POWA is going for an outing – with the community coming to POWA with ideas, we thought itd be time to go bowling!

iPlay, located at Westfield Whitford City, has been chosen as the location, and all of POWA’s community is invited to join us in the classic ten-pin bowling.

For a single game, attendees will need to pay $16 for a spot, but if you want to keep going, you can pay just $7 for extra games. iPlay also has a large arcade, and is situated closely to the food Plaza of the shopping centre above.

We plan to start the outing at 5:30pm, with bowling hopefully to start by 6:00pm, after POWA’s Sunday screening for the weekend ends – so please ensure you can arrive early enough to do the necessary shoe fittings and dinner eating, if you can.

And, finally, if you intent to attend this meetup, it would be appreciated (But not required) if you contacted the committee beforehand, just so we can get a rough idea of how many people to expect. You can do that by messaging the @commitee-member role on discord, messaging the Facebook group, or just talking to us at POWA.

We hope to see you there!

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM Film Outing, March 15, 2024

Event Location: Event Cinemas Innaloo

Another movie release for our 2024 year of POWA; this time, the latest in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise: “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM”, the second film from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series!

“In C.E.75, the fighting still continues. There are independence movements, and aggression by Blue Cosmos… In order to calm the situation, a global peace monitoring agency called COMPASS is established, with Lacus as its first president. As members of COMPASS, Kira and his comrades intervene into various regional battles. Then a newly established nation called Foundation proposes a joint operation against a Blue Cosmos stronghold.”

This event is being held with generous support from SugoiCo, the distributor of the film in Australia and New Zealand – and, on their part, they have provided POWA with two double-entry passes!

The POWA community was polled, and a time and location chosen; and, with a tie-breaking vote, the time of our screening will be the 6:30pm session, on March 15th, at Event Cinemas Innaloo.

As always, we highly suggest that attendees arrive with enough time to organise their tickets, buy food and drink and meet up to discuss the film beforehand. Additionally, POWA is unable to guarantee that arrivals will have a seat in the cinema; you must arrive early enough to get a seat in the happenstance the cinema will be full.

We hope to see you there!
