Our screenings open at 1PM and run to 5PM at Joondalup Library, Meeting Room 1/2 every Sunday (unless otherwise specified) and our schedule includes exciting series from various genres.

2:00PM – Awesome Anime
2:30PM – Awesome Anime
3:00PM – Break
3:45PM – Awesome Anime
4:15PM – Awesome Anime
4:45PM – Pack Up

All of the shows we screen are screened in their original – usually Japanese – language with English subtitling.

We are a democratic bunch at POWA. Every fourth episode we vote on keeping a series in our lineup. If it’s voted out, the following week enables us to vote for a show to replace it.

POWA Screening, March 23rd, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Nearly a year to the day since it arrived in our lineup, our Slice of Life/Romance series “My Love Story!!” reached its final episode this past screening. While we are all devastated at the loss of Takeo and Yamato, for sure, it does mean that it’s time for a new show this week! Comedy time! While those suggestions are tallied for a new vote, we also have some regular voting to think about. 

Firstly, last screening, our Mature, Horror & Thriller series “Vinland Saga” passed its first vote, so that’s staying in for at least the next few episodes. Will our Action & Sports series “Spy x Family” do the same when it reaches its first 4-episode vote this week? Be a POWA member, come to the screening, and have a say!

Now for a general notice; our website has our calendar now – it’s available under the “Events” dropdown in the header. If you want to have a little longview of what’s coming, that’s one of the best ways to do so!

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests. However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting room of the Joondalup Library. Our meeting will start at the same time as the library opens – 1:00PM – and we will start watching anime at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

POWA Screening, 16th March, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Last week POWA said “Hi” to a new series; we needed a filled spot in our rotating Scifi slot, and POWA picked the mind-delving murder mystery series “ID: Invaded”.

This week, we say “Bye” to yet another series – our Slice of Life/Romance series, “My Love Story!” reaches its end this week, leaving much laughter and diabetes-inducing sappyness behind… And also, an empty Comedy slot, so start thinking of replacements!

POWA also gets to decide whether or not we replace our new Mature, Horror & Thriller series, Vinland Saga, as it reaches its first vote!

New week, new show – let’s go!

As our Action & Sports series Jujutsu Kaisen vacated our lineup, at the last screening we had to vote in a new show to replace it. Nominations were made, minutes previewed, and arms lifted – and the winner, Spy X Family was left the champion! 

And, on top of that, our Cultural & Historical series “The Apothecary Diaries” also passes its second last vote. But while we continue with those series, we got a new one to start this week!

Our fantasy, Wistoria: Wand and Sword, finished its go in our lineup, so its time to vote in a new Sci-Fi series! Check those memberships and have a say on what we get in!
