Our screenings open at 1PM and run to 5PM at Joondalup Library, Meeting Room 1/2 every Sunday (unless otherwise specified) and our schedule includes exciting series from various genres.

All of the shows we screen are screened in their original – usually Japanese – language with English subtitling.

We are a democratic bunch at POWA. Every fourth episode we vote on keeping a series in our lineup. If it’s voted out, the following week enables us to vote for a show to replace it.

POWA Screening, January 25th, 2026

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

It is much too warm when this is being written for witty opening remark, so instead, heres the recap bit:

Last week, a new comedy! POWA voted and the winner was the gag series “Handyman Saitou in Another World!” And, while we were doing that whole voting thing, POWA also voted on whether or not to continue our ongoing Cultural & Historical series, “Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf”, which it passed, moving on into episode 9 this week.

Will Frieren move on, too? The show, we mean. The character seems to be taking her time moving on herself. But since the show is on episode 16 this week, it does get a vote.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

POWA Return Screening, 18th January, 2026

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

And we are back, fresh from our break, to bring to everyone the anime and anime club you all love (tolerate? Accept? At least come to.) so much!

We are launching right back into the proverbial thick of it with our continuing lineup from the end of last year – double check the schedule below to ensure you know where we are – but we also come with a brand new series to entertain us all, as before we went on break, our Slice of Life/Romance series “My Roommate is a cat!” reached its finale.

And since that was in a rotating genre slot, we get to vote on a brand new comedy series – as well as whether or not to continue our Cultural & Historical series “Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf”!

There isnt too much else to say – just back at it again with some great anime for us all to enjoy!

POWA Christmas Screening, 14th December, 2025

And it’s time for our Jolliest day of the year!

This is the final POWA Screening of 2025, before we all take a couple weeks off for the holiday season. No worries, though, since POWA is already planning our 2026 year!

This screening is a little bit special compared to our normal screenings – but first, a recap.

Last week we saw the end of our Slice of Life/Romance series “My Roommate is a Cat!”

And while an ending show would normally result in a new replacement, rather than start us on a brand new series and then not watch it for a month, we’ve decided to kick that proverbial can down the road and will vote on a new Comedy series in 2026. Keep an eye out for the suggestion threads after New Years! So, who’s wondering what we will be doing in its scheduled timeslot? You will, until you come to POWA, that is!

Thankfully for our lineups continuity, our Mature, Horror & Thriller series “Vinland Saga” passed its first vote – we continue with it into the new year. Whether or not we continue our Action & Sports series “The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World”, which is a very long title to type) is up to the POWA members this week, as it reaches its first vote on Episode 4.

Finally, it is worth pointing out that our online presence won’t disappear over the break – our Discord is still active, and (barring the holidays themselves), our Going Home Club will continue, and the chatrooms will be open. Maybe jump into the chat and see who you can make the most jealous about your holiday season?
