POWA Anime Club Joondalup WA

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

POWA welcomed in a new show last week – we were looking for a new Slice of Life/Romance series, and after a very close vote, the winner emerged; the notably very chill and fuzzy series “My Roommate is a Cat!”

As for other voting, last week our Action & Sports series “The Elusive Samurai” reached and passed its first vote. This week, POWA gets to decide on whether or not our Drama series “Bartender: The Glass of God” gets to pass its second, episode 8 vote.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

After a double whammy weekend last time around featuring a day full of board games and a day of anime, it’s time to return to our regular, Sunday-only events with this week’s screening.

There was a bunch of voting and shifting in our lineup last week – firstly, our Comedy series, “Kakushigoto” got its finale, and though we will likely all miss its mix of family drama and office comedy, it does leave the slot open – this time, for a brand new Slice of Life/Romance series! 

Speaking of brand new, last weekend also had an opportunity for a new Fantasy series – and POWA voted, this time for a series you’ve probably heard of – “Frieren: Beyond Journeys End!” 

With one of the most critically acclaimed anime of recent years in our lineup, POWA then voted, once more, on whether or not to keep watching the show in our Mature, Horror & Thriller slot – “Vinland Saga” – which had reached episode 16, which it did pass.

And finally, this week also brings some voting – our second-newest show, the Action & Sports show “The Elusive Samurai”, reaches its first, episode 4, vote, while we of course pick a new Slice of Life/Romance series to bring us back to a complete schedule.

So, good time to check the validity of your memberships for a change to say just what shows POWA is watching!

Busy week in a busy month for POWA; this weekend’s screening takes place the day after POWA’s board game day on the 9th. If you’re reading this and not aware that POWA is doing double events this weekend, the event and details for the board game day can be found everywhere POWA posts its information!

Furthermore, POWA is attending Evolve this month! If you are interested in volunteering for POWA, you need to write into one of the Committee – send us an email, message us on our socials, that kinda thing. We need your nomination in writing!

But this event in particular…

Well, last screening we reached the finale episode of our Scifi series, “ID:Invaded” – and while that news isnt strictly ‘this event in particular’, its new Fantasy replacement will be! And while we are all sitting there wondering what Final pick our Fantasy will be, perhaps it’s time to start thinking of the replacement for our Comedy, “Kakushigoto” – because that reaches its finale this weekend as well!

And, to round it all off, Vinland Saga reaches its 16th episode this weekend – so its time for a show of hands on whether or not to keep on with the most cheery of our shows in our lineup!
