POWA Screening, March 2nd, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Our first new series of 2025 was voted in this past screening – the historical fiction, viking filled series “Vinland Saga” now fills the Mature, Horror & Thriller slot in POWA’s lineup! So now is a very good time to join us in following the life and times of little Thorfinn and his journeys through a wartorn europe. 

If that’s not your speed, though, it’s still a good time to join us, because this week it’s time for a new Action & Sports series! Yep, we have a few shows in our lineup that are ending, and this week it’s time for us to replace our outgoing series Jujutsu Kaisen – or, maybe not. Season 2 does exist out there in the wilds of Crunchyroll.

On top of that, this week also is the final episode of Wistoria: Wand and Sword. Though we wont vote on a replacement this screening – that’s next week’s problem – it is always good to start thinking ahead for a new Scifi to replace the outgoing Fantasy series.

And, not leastly but lastly, our Cultural/Historical series “The Apothecary Diaries” reaches a milestone vote, reaching episode 16.

Yep. A lot happening to POWAs lineup right now – so maybe its a good time to check on your POWA membership and come along to have a say on what we are watching?

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests. However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting room of the Joondalup Library. Our meeting will start at the same time as the library opens – 1:00PM – and we will start watching anime at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

POWA Screening, February 23rd, 2025

For the first time in the 2025 year, it’s time for a new show! 

Last week our Mature, Horror & Thriller series “86 Part 2” parted ways with our lineup when its final episode ended, and while there are whisperings of a Season 2 in the future, we need a replacement in the present. So time to vote – if you are an active POWA member, that is!

Outside of current voting, last week our Slice of Life/Romance series My Love STORY!! Had its final vote, which it passed with all the certainty that Takeo loves Yamato. Which is very certain, for those who somehow keep missing that plot point. 

And finally, this week brings the end of our Action & Sports series, Jujutsu Kaisen. Having reached its finale in episode 24, it will soon be time to think about replacing that series as well.

Rescheduled: POWA General Meeting 1, Now for 22nd February, 2025

As decided by a vote of attending members at the General Meeting, held on 15th Feburary, the meeting and all of the buisness that was to be conducted at that meeting has been rescheduled to Midday, February 22nd, 2025.

This meeting, intending to go over the last few months of POWA buisness and to discuss what will be occuring in the immediate future, will be held on POWA’s official Discord. It is scheduled to commence at midday on the 22nd, and is estimated to run for approximatly an hour.

If you are an active POWA member, you are encouraged to join the meeting, though if you are not a member you must attain an invitation from the POWA Committee to join.

The meeting will be held in one of the Discord’s voice chat rooms – you may bring your mic to the meeting, just in case you have any questions to raise, though a keyboard and the capacity to type is also a good way to get your questions across.
