Event Location: Event Cinemas Innaloo

Off to the cinema once last time for this POWA Committee, with a screening of the filmatically dubious but quite lengthy regardless double feature of “Bocchi The Rock! Recap” Part 1 and Part 2.

Though a poll, a time was decided; this time we are hitting the 6:00pm screening at Event Cinemas Innaloo on Friday, October 18^th.

We wont have any passes for anyone this time around, though the time is noted to be a super-saver session.

Now, as always, though the film starts at 6:00pm, we as that all those interested ensure they arrive with enough time to get in order – to find the group, purchase your tickets, and visit the candy bar for all one requires/can afford.

And, of course, POWA is completely unable to guarantee a spot in the theatre! Yes, if you show up tardy enough and the film is popular enough, you may find yourself without a spot to plant yourself for the film. If this is of concern to you, you can pre-purchase your tickets, or simply arrive just that little bit earlier to reserve your spot… otherwise, you may simply have to miss out.

“BOCCHI THE ROCK! tells the story of young rocker Hitori Gotoh, also known as “Bocchi-chan,” a middle schooler struggling with social anxiety. Amid her silence and solitude, she picks up a guitar and discovers that she is talented, but despite spending hours practicing and uploading popular videos of herself performing, her dreams of joining a band and making friends never materialize. The thought of reaching out to strangers makes her nervous, and instead, the awkward Hitori isolates herself even more, accepting her fate of solitude. Until one day, she meets Nijika Ijichi, the drummer for Kessoku Band, who encourages her to change her tune and helps her overcome her deep social anxiety!”

Last week at POWA had only one bit of voting – our Slice of Life/Romance series “My Love STORY!!” had its second, episode 8 vote, staying in our lineup at this juncture.

This week brings a vote for our Action & Sports series, Jujutsu Kaisen, as it reaches its halfway point on episode 12! If you want to have a say in what shows remain in our lineup, you do need to be an active POWA member!

And, finally, this week brings us the conclusion to our Mature, Horror & Thriller series “Psycho Pass Season 2”. The thread for suggestions should be up; gets your shows in before next week to have them count!

Important news, now: POWA’s AGM is scheduled for Sunday, 3rd November! As always with our AGMs, on top of our regular look back on the year, POWA will be holding its Committee Election. If you are interested in running for Committee in the 2024/2025 year, then send an email to us at Powaclub@gmail.com – or if you want more information on what being on Committee entails, contact the POWA committee in any way you deem suitable – facebook, Discord, email, instagram or in person all work very well.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

Last week at POWA brought with it a vote for a new Cultural/Historical series! Arms raised and counted, POWA is now watching the rather popular recently released series “The Apothecary Diaries” – notable for Perth’s second-best-girl-of-2024, Maomao! And its notable for some other things, were sure.

As we continue that new series, POWA also votes on whether to continue our Slice of Life/Romance series, “My Love STORY!!” in its second, episode 8, vote. Ensuring your membership is up to date, of course, make sure you have a say in whether or not Takeo and Yamato’s blossoming romance continues
