POWA Screening, 20th October, 2024

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Though the tenure of the current POWA Committee approaches its end, the anime does not!

Except for “Psycho-Pass season 2”, which ended last week… and for our Sci-fi series, “DECA-DENCE”, which ends this week? Those technically have ended or are soon to end.

But beside those, as a whole, the anime continues! Continuing, particularly, is something that our Action & Sports series “Jujutsu Kaisen” does, as it passed the test of its episode 12 vote last week. This week also has a vote – the first – for our Cultural/Historical series “The Apothecary Diaries”

In addition to anime continuing, we have a new one starting – this week also brings voting on a new Mature, Horror & Thriller series to fill the slot of the concluded Psycho-Pass season 2. Remember, of course, that all voting and the like is a right reserved solely to POWA members, so make sure that your membership is up to date.

Important news, now: POWA’s AGM is scheduled for Sunday, 3rd November! As always with our AGMs, on top of our regular look back on the year, POWA will be holding its Committee Election. If you are interested in running for Committee in the 2024/2025 year, then send an email to us at Powaclub@gmail.com – or if you want more information on what being on Committee entails, contact the POWA committee in any way you deem suitable – facebook, Discord, email, instagram or in person all work very well.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

POWA AGM and Election 2024, 3rd November

That’s right, It is that time again, it’s time for POWA’s Annual General Meeting. And yes, that means that POWA’s Committee’s 2023/2024 run is coming to a close, which will bring forth a new committee to run POWA in 2024/2025 in the form of an Election.

If you are interested in running for committee in the 2024/2025 year – Feel free to email us at powaclub@gmail.com, and state your full name, and your expression of interest for running for committee.
If a nominee is unable to be present at the AGM, they will still be able to present themselves to members in absentia. Contact a member of the current committee for any questions on the nomination process. You must have an Active POWA Membership in order to apply for Committee beforehand.

But before the Election happens, POWA’s 2023/2024 committee will be discussing important subjects matters such as:
– What transpired behind the scenes of POWA during their final quarter.
– Summary of events that had occurred over the course of 3 months prior.
– POWA’s financial update through the 2023/2024 year, and
– Review of POWA’s Committee year between the last AGM and this AGM.

Additionally to this AGM agenda, we will also be passing a special motion during the AGM to propose an amendment to one of POWA’s By Laws regarding Anime Selection & Voting Rules. You can view the current and the proposed amendment of both documents down below.
As always, you can only attend, vote and speak in our AGM if you’re currently holding an active POWA membership prior before the AGM commences.

Members may nominate an ordinary member as proxy to vote and speak on their behalf, if that member is unable to attend. A notice of appointment of this proxy, signed by the appointee must be given to the committee prior to the commencement of the committee. This can be immediately before the AGM in the form of a physical note, or 24 hours before the AGM in the form of a digital message or email.

EVENT CANCELLED: Bocchi the Rock! Recap Part 1 & 2 Film outing, 18th October, 2024

PELASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

EVENT CINEMAS HAS REMOVED THE SCHEDULED SCREENING FROM THEIR WEBSITE. AS SUCH, WE CANNOT ATTEND THE MOVIE.

SINCE ITS NOT HAPPENING. APPARENTLY.

Off to the cinema once last time for this POWA Committee, with a screening of the filmatically dubious but quite lengthy regardless double feature of “Bocchi The Rock! Recap” Part 1 and Part 2.

Though a poll, a time was decided; this time we are hitting the 6:00pm screening at Event Cinemas Innaloo on Friday, October 18th.

We wont have any passes for anyone this time around, though the time is noted to be a super-saver session.

Now, as always, though the film starts at 6:00pm, we as that all those interested ensure they arrive with enough time to get in order – to find the group, purchase your tickets, and visit the candy bar for all one requires/can afford.

And, of course, POWA is completely unable to guarantee a spot in the theatre! Yes, if you show up tardy enough and the film is popular enough, you may find yourself without a spot to plant yourself for the film. If this is of concern to you, you can pre-purchase your tickets, or simply arrive just that little bit earlier to reserve your spot… otherwise, you may simply have to miss out.

“BOCCHI THE ROCK! tells the story of young rocker Hitori Gotoh, also known as “Bocchi-chan,” a middle schooler struggling with social anxiety. Amid her silence and solitude, she picks up a guitar and discovers that she is talented, but despite spending hours practicing and uploading popular videos of herself performing, her dreams of joining a band and making friends never materialize. The thought of reaching out to strangers makes her nervous, and instead, the awkward Hitori isolates herself even more, accepting her fate of solitude. Until one day, she meets Nijika Ijichi, the drummer for Kessoku Band, who encourages her to change her tune and helps her overcome her deep social anxiety!”
