POWA Anime Club Joondalup WA

For the first time since November last year, POWA has a complete regular schedule!

Yes, last screening we welcomed our new Action & Sports series, the Cute-Girls-Doing-Legally-And-Morally-Grey-Murdery-Things show Lycoris Recoil!

And, for the first time this year, this means that we have no voting on a new genre slot. Though, this doesn’t mean that we don’t have any voting; Super Cub gets its second and final vote this week, while our Sci-Fi Trigun enters its final two episodes.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $5 for members and $6 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

Thanks to those who attended POWA’s first GM last weekend, and more thanks to those who attended last weekends’ winter 2024 Seasonal Preview!

This week returns us to our regular screening schedule with a few notable additions; Last regular screening POWA voted in two news shows – xxxHolic, show with a rather noodly protagonist, in our new Mature, Horror & Thriller series, and the return of Chihayafuru with Season 2, with a less noodly but no less intense protagonist, in our Drama slot!

This week will come with its own notable addition, too – a new Action & Sports series! Yes, it’s finally time to properly fill our line-up as we vote to fill the final remaining open spot.

One point of note to those playing catch up; last week, due to issues regarding the scheduled shows, POWA watched two episodes of our Slice of Life/Romance Super Cub, bringing the episode count further forward than you might be aware. Double check the schedule below to make sure you are up to date!

Please be aware of this important fact:

As mentioned at the POWA GM and seasonal preview screening, POWA has raised the price of entry and on select shop goods, to better reflect the current increase in operation and supply costs of the club. These prices changes go into effect this screening, and entry and raffle tickets costs have been adjusted as follows:

Entry for POWA members will now be $5.

Entry for public Guests will now be $6, but your first visit to POWA will remain free.

All entry will continue to come with a raffle ticket and a chance of winning the raffle prize.

It’s always winter somewhere, but in this case, its winter in Japan – meaning that it’s a new season of anime for us all!

So, this week, it’s time to put out regular schedule on temporary hold while POWA has a look at a number of shows that have been airing in Japan for the winter 2024 season.

If you’ve not taken the opportunity to watch the shows already, or have watched them and want a good place to rewatch and discuss them, POWA is a great place to do so – from the fluffiest of fluffy Isekais, to Dungeon Crawling Culinary Culture, to quiet romances and mature monster slaying, this season will have a bit of everything for everyone.

After POWA’s in-person screening, we will move online to host a POWA After-Party on POWA’s Discord rooms, featuring more of the many, many shows POWA was unable to fit into the schedule in-room.
