POWA Anime Club Joondalup WA

Attention!!

This weekends event, scheduled for the 18th February, has been cancelled! The City of Joondalup Library has decided that the weather forecast for this weekend, combined with the currently malfunctioning air conditioning for the building, makes it too dangerous to open the library to the public. As such, this weeks event has been delayed to next weekend. Dont worry, the episodes we were to watch in this event will be on next event. So, take this weekend off, stay cool, and we will see you next week!

Original event text follows:

After a rather warm Perth afternoon last week, POWA continues with our regularly weekly screenings, but with some farewells to make.

This week, POWA sees the end of what has been quite a journey, With Scifi Series Trigun reaching its final episode. Yes, last week Vash walked off into the sunset, with his ideals of Love and Peace put to the test – what will the outcome be? I bet you all cant wait to see!

Super Cub, our Slice of Life/Romance series, had its second and final vote last week too, one which it survived, meaning that it will be in the club until its end in a few weeks’ time. On the topic of voting, both xxxHolic – our Mature, Horror & Thriller – and Chihayafuru season 2 – our Drama – reach their first votes this week, so it’s a good opportunity to buy or renew memberships and have your say in what our line-up looks like!

Entry for our weekly screenings is $5 for members and $6 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

We hope to see you there!

For the first time since November last year, POWA has a complete regular schedule!

Yes, last screening we welcomed our new Action & Sports series, the Cute-Girls-Doing-Legally-And-Morally-Grey-Murdery-Things show Lycoris Recoil!

And, for the first time this year, this means that we have no voting on a new genre slot. Though, this doesn’t mean that we don’t have any voting; Super Cub gets its second and final vote this week, while our Sci-Fi Trigun enters its final two episodes.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $5 for members and $6 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. Thanks to those who attended POWA’s first GM last weekend, and more thanks to those who attended last weekends’ winter 2024 Seasonal Preview!

This week returns us to our regular screening schedule with a few notable additions; Last regular screening POWA voted in two news shows – xxxHolic, show with a rather noodly protagonist, in our new Mature, Horror & Thriller series, and the return of Chihayafuru with Season 2, with a less noodly but no less intense protagonist, in our Drama slot!

This week will come with its own notable addition, too – a new Action & Sports series! Yes, it’s finally time to properly fill our line-up as we vote to fill the final remaining open spot.

One point of note to those playing catch up; last week, due to issues regarding the scheduled shows, POWA watched two episodes of our Slice of Life/Romance Super Cub, bringing the episode count further forward than you might be aware. Double check the schedule below to make sure you are up to date!

Please be aware of this important fact:

As mentioned at the POWA GM and seasonal preview screening, POWA has raised the price of entry and on select shop goods, to better reflect the current increase in operation and supply costs of the club. These prices changes go into effect this screening, and entry and raffle tickets costs have been adjusted as follows:

Entry for POWA members will now be $5.

Entry for public Guests will now be $6, but your first visit to POWA will remain free.

All entry will continue to come with a raffle ticket and a chance of winning the raffle prize.

Thank you for understanding. Please feel free to contact the POWA Committee on any of the usual channels with feedback.
