Yeah, Nah, Yeah. This is happening.

So, its Fathers Day weekend this weekend and, like before on various days where we think people might want to not feel like they’re missing out on POWA, we’re not doing our normal lineup of Anime.

But instead of just another lazy day, I’m making good on my threats of a Monty Python night with a fan-favourite of fathers and old people (like me) everywhere!

That’s right, we are going to be watching the 1975 comedy classic (Some would say masterpiece; I call it a classic masterpiece) “Monty Python and the Holy Grail!”

King Arthur (King of the Britons, and not a woman, nor a welshman with a chip on his shoulder) sets off across the sunny English countryside in a quest from god: Find the Holy Grail. There’s a wizard, there’s some very rude frenchmen, there’s grand armies, and there’s even talk of a terrifying beast (With big sharp teeth!) all in the King’s path. 

It’s a silly place.

Now, the film is just over an hour and a half long, so if you wish to you can skip the film and show up afterwards – we will have a few hours left in the day where we can play some board games, hang out and do the usual lazy stuff… but of course, the entire point of a lazy day is that you don’t need to feel like you need to rock up at all! 

A more personal note; If you have not seen this film, I personally suggest you give it a go. It is a film that is quite foundational for a lot of comedy, and would go on to influence and be referenced in media up to this current day. It is, however, an older film and sometimes the Python’s brand of humour and jokes, in many of their works, can come across as poorly aged, perhaps. Holy Grail is rated PG, however, and of all their works is (surprisingly) the most family friendly. But it is still an old comedy; some jokes and language could offend more modern sensibilities. 

And, by the way, there wont be a shop or raffle on offer this week: Lazy! Day!
