Just a reminder that POWA is not meeting this weekend, Sunday 5th April, for our weekly screenings. We will be back on the 12th April, though!
POWA is also organising an outing to see “The Last Blossom”, an upcoming anime film from the minds behind “ODD TAXI”. If you are interested, check the poll out here.

Letsa-go to the cinemas once again, with the sequel to the best Mario film adaptation in at least three minutes, in “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”!
This film had, like, a million sessions so the session that we are landing on is the 6:45pm session on Wednesday, 1st April, and we are at Event Cinemas Innaloo!
This is likely to be a very popular film for families and groups, so we recommend particular attention be paid to the seating arrangements – either reserve your ticket in advance or ensure you rock up early enough to get a chair.
Or at least show up early enough to get your popcorn, sweets and coffees before the film actually starts! Discord is a great way to coordinate the group – keep an eye on your phone too.
And now, here is the EXHAUSTIVE description provided by the cinema about the film!
“The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is an animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros.”
(I feel like id be less insulted if they used Chat GPT for the description.)
We hope to see you there!
Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room
Hey, did you know that OzComicCon is on this weekend?
Well, OzComicCon is on this weekend. In the previous experience of POWA, we have learnt two things: 1) People want to go to conventions, B) People want to go to POWA, iii) People struggle to divide like some kind of amoeba to attend pop culture conventions and anime clubs at the same time.
Sooo, we are having a bit of an easy week.
We arent doing our regular schedule this week, is what we are saying. No, instead, POWA still has our usual room booked at the Joondalup Library, but are taking an easy, casual time of it – we have no real set-in-stone plans, but encourage people who arent hitting the comics to come along and just chill. Anime is a likely appearance – as are some board games, and we encourage people to bring portable consoles if you want to get something running. POWA does have access to both projectors in the meeting rooms, after all…
This event will be 100% free – and there will be no raffle prize as a result. POWA will also not be promising our normal shop services – no snacks or drinks, nor membership renewals, that kinda things – so that its even easier on us all.
Doors open when the Library does, and doors close with the Library’s – that is, 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
We hope to see you there, or otherwise, hope to hear you enjoy the convention!
