POWA Board Games Day, 11th October, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Ground Floor Meeting Room

Time again for some board games!

Much like last time, back in August, it’s time for another board games day. Located in the ground-floor meeting rooms, and starting at 9:30am on Saturday, the 11th, the day before our regular POWA Screening, POWA invites all of the community to bring their favourite games of cardboard to the group with the intent of sharing in the dice-rolling, card-flipping, manual-rules-lawyering goodness that is your board games!

Like last time, this board games day will be something of a free-for-all – bring whatever board games you have, and see what people feel like playing…

…But this time, we are also absolutely threatening everyone with the promise to get as many people as possible playing more involved, longer-session boardgames. If youve got something that really isnt just a throw-down-and-play game that you just are desperate to get someone on board with, why not bring it – or better yet, get a discussion going on the POWA Discord?

Entry to this event will be free. POWA will also not be selling food or drink at this event – while the library does offer water bubblers and have vending machines, if you seek something a bit more tasty or filling, feel free to run for lunch!

Finally, POWA’s screening for the weekend – on the 12th – will still run, so those who think that their weekends simply don’t have enough POWA will finally learn that there can be too much POWA. Or still not enough. Up to you.

We hope to see you there!

9:30am – Doors Open

3:30pm – Pack up

4:00pm – Library Close

POWA Screening, 14th September, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Have a nice break over Evolve Expo and Fathers Day weekends? Well, regardless of your answer, POWA is back anyway!

It’s been a hot couple of minutes, so to remind everyone where we are at – Last time we screened at POWA, we continued our newest series in our lineup – “My Roommate is a Cat” – and voted on one of our ongoing series for the last time; our Drama series, “Bartender: Glass of God”. Rest assured, it wasn’t the last because it got voted out, rather, because it was its episode 8 vote – and it survived this vote in any case!

Otherwise, we continue our lineup unimpeded this week, with only one show up for vote. This time, it’s our Fantasy series “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End”, which has made it to its first, Episode 4, vote. So, now is the time to check if your membership is still good!

If it’s not, why not buy in, or renew? Since POWA wasn’t offering our discounted memberships at Evolve this year, we have decided to extend that offer to the first two screenings after the expo. Rather than the normal $10 for a year of membership, we will offer our discounted price.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

We hope to see you there!

This week’s schedule:

1:00 – Doors Open

1:30 – Bartender: The Glass of God – Episode 9 (Drama)

2:00 – My Roommate is a Cat! – Episode 3 (Slice of Life/Romance)

2:30 – The Elusive Samurai – Episode 6 (Action & Sports)

3:00 – Break & Raffle!

3:45 – Frieren: Beyond Journeys End – Episode 4 (Fantasy, Voting!)

4:15 – Vinland Saga – Episode 19 (Mature, Horror & Thriller)

POWA Film Outing – Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, 13th September, 2025

Location: HOYTS Cinema, Joondalup

Before POWA even returns from our Evolve weekend break, POWA is back to the cinemas once more with an outing for “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” – the beginning of the end arcs of the Demon Slayer saga.

The time was polled, and the time was chosen; this time, POWA is meeting at Hoyts Cinema Joondalup, and is checking the 6:00pm session on Saturday, 13th September.

All our standard citations about film outings apply; POWA cannot guarantee seats in the cinema – if you rock up late, or the session just happens to be super busy, you may well miss out on a spot for the film. Check apps, prepurchase tickets – do your checking if you’re concerned. We also won’t be standing around terribly long after the film is scheduled to start – if you rock up late, you’ll struggle to find the group and buy popcorn and gummy bears, so make sure you rock up early instead!

And finally, here’s the provided synopsis for the film:

“Tanjiro Kamado – a boy who joined an organization dedicated to hunting down demons called the Demon Slayer Corps after his younger sister Nezuko was turned into a demon.

While growing stronger and deepening his friendships and bonds with fellow corps members, Tanjiro has battled many demons with his comrades – Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira. Along the way, his journey has led him to fight alongside the Demon Slayer Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, the Hashira, including Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku aboard the Mugen Train, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui within the Entertainment District, as well as Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji at the Swordsmith Village.

As the Demon Slayer Corps members and Hashira engaged in a group strength training program, the Hashira Training, in preparation for the forthcoming battle against the demons, Muzan Kibutsuji appears at the Ubuyashiki Mansion. With the head of the Demon Corps in danger, Tanjiro and the Hashira rush to the headquarters but are plunged into a deep descent to a mysterious space by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji.

The destination of where Tanjiro and Demon Slayer Corps have fallen is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. And so, the battleground is set as the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons ignites.”

We hope to see you there!
