Our screenings open at 1PM and run to 5PM at Joondalup Library, Meeting Room 1/2 every Sunday (unless otherwise specified) and our schedule includes exciting series from various genres.

4:15PM – Awesome Anime
4:45PM – Pack Up

All of the shows we screen are screened in their original – usually Japanese – language with English subtitling.

We are a democratic bunch at POWA. Every fourth episode we vote on keeping a series in our lineup. If it’s voted out, the following week enables us to vote for a show to replace it.

POWA Screening, 6th July, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Everyone have a good Supanova weekend? Us too/neither! 

Well, distractions aside, its back to POWA this weekend, this time with a brand new show!

As our Historical series “The Apothecary Diaries” left our lineup the time before last, last time we voted for a new Drama series – and what was picked is the chilled out comfy series “Bartender: The Glass of God”!

POWA continues that series this week, while also having a check in on our Comedy series “Kakushigoto”, which reaches episode 8, and our Mature/Horror/Thriller series “Vinland Saga”, which reaches its 12th. Always check your membership before trying to vote, and have a say on our ongoing lineup!

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

POWA Screening, June 22nd, 2025

Last week at POWA brought two newsworthy mentions to our lineup. In no particular order except the order that justifies the flow of this paragraph, our Sci-Fi series “ID: Invaded” reached its second, final, episode 8 vote this past weekend, which it passed. Second, and perhaps more notably just because it’s been around for such a while now, our Cultural & Historical series “The Apothecary Diaries” bid farewell as it reached its 24th episode and finale.

Which means, of course, it’s time to replace it! As our Cultural/Historical genre slot is a rotating one, this means it is time for POWA to pick something dramatic to fill the empty spot in our lineup – or perhaps you are more interested in giving the sequel season of The Apothecary Diaries a continuation? 

Those who decide will be POWA members – so make sure your membership is current and up to date – it might be a good time to check in on your membership card to ensure you haven’t lapsed in the last couple of months. 

Do note that the weekend after this one – the Sunday of the 29th – POWA will NOT be screening, as our screening would overlap with Supanova. Enjoy the convention!

POWA Screening, 15th June, 2025

This week’s got a bit of a bit of sadness in its schedule, because this week has the final episode of one of the more popular Anime series around – our Cultural/Historical series “The Apothecary Diaries” reaches its final episode this week! So, time for POWA to start the debate around a new show to fill its spot in our schedule…

Less of a debate was last week’s vote for our Action & Sports series “Spy x Family”, which snuck past its second vote with just as much confidence as its own protagonists. 

This week – in addition to the final episode of Apothecary Diaries – does also bring with it the second (and final) vote for our Sci-fi series, ID:Invaded. The mystery in that show is starting to ramp up – but has it got its hooks into enough of POWA’s members to get through? 

Please note: SupaNova is coming to Perth the weekend of the 28th and 29th of this month, and as is tradition when large conventions come to town, POWA will not be screening on that weekend – the 29th – so as to stop people having to decide to skip out on a convention to attend POWA. Enjoy the convention-slash-sunday off!
