POWA Screening, 1st June, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Due to unforseen consiquences relating to the weather, POWA was decided not to screen our regular schedule of shows last weekend. This time, however, we absoultely will. So for those who were unable to attend last week, no worries – you didnt miss out on the schedule!

Which also means we get to reuse a chunk our post from last week!

Last time at POWA was an easy one for us as we had no voting and also all our shows were still on a streaming service – so this week we continue that lineup with the caveat that there IS voting this time! Two shows, on the opposite ends of the feelgood spectrum are up – first, our newest show, the Comedy “Kakushigoto” reaches its first, episode 4 vote, and then at the end of the night, our Mature, Horror & Thriller series reaches its second, episode 8 one.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

We hope to see you there!

This week’s schedule:

1:00 – Doors Open

1:30 – Kakushigoto – Episode 4 (Comedy, Voting!)

2:00 – The Apothecary Diaries – Episode 22 (Cultural/Historical)

2:30 – Spy x Family – Episode 7 (Action & Sports)

3:00 – Break & Raffle

3:45 – ID:Invaded – Episode 6 (Sci-Fi)

4:15 – Vinland Saga – Episode 8 (Mature, Horror & Thriller, Voting!)

POWA Screening, 25th May, 2025

Did you know that POWA used to run screenings on weekends back to back without breaks? Yeah, in the past, we didn’t cancel screenings! Well, we are nostalgic this week, as the weekends with POWA continue!

Upcoming POWA film outing: “Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye”!

The sequel season to the hit anime “Dan Da Dan” comes out next season – and as is the fashion these days, a supercut preview of the first few episodes (Specifically, the first three) is on its way to Australian cinemas, courtesy of our friends at SugoiCo!

From June 6th the film will be appearing in cinemas, and POWA needs the community to pick a time and place for our outing! SugoiCo is even being really really good friends of POWA and is offering us a couple of Admit 2 passes for our community to use!

If you are intested in having a say on what time and place we do pick, there is currently a poll available on our Facebook group. Head there and have a vote, why dont you?

“DAN DA DAN follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult geek. In this new arc, Momo and Okarun set out on their latest adventure, traveling to a hot springs town home rented by Jiji, Momo’s childhood friend and former crush, with the goal to solve the mystery surrounding his family. When they arrive, strange locals derail their investigation before it can properly begin, and the group soon learns there’s more lurking under the surface of the town than they could possibly have imagined.”
