My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising Replacement Screening at Event Innaloo, March 15th

Location: Event Cinemas Innaloo

After an unfortunate delay which saw our previous time be cancelled, POWA is back to go to the movies and see the new film in the My Hero Academia franchise!

Thanks to Madman and AnimeLab, we’ll have double passes available to watch the film for free! Please click attending to allow for accurate numbers and secure your place.
The movie starts at 4:20pm, so be sure to arrive early enough to meet up, grab food and take your seat!

In a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered Quirk, Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that won’t stop him from enrolling in a prestigious hero academy. Now, Izuku is tangled in another dangerous internship as he struggles to keep pace with his upperclassman—Mirio.

An Important Announcement

ECU’s Student Guild Council has made POWA aware of several key responsibilities and requirements that they expect of the club that we must accomplish in order for us to be able to exist as an associate of the ECU Student Guild, and therefore, book locations and organise events on the ECU Joondalup campus.

Two major and key examples of the requirements are the following;

1) POWA’s organising committee is required to be five active members of the ECU Student body at the time of the club’s association with the Guild, and;

2) 51% or more of the club’s active membership needs to be active members of the ECU Student body.

By reaching and maintaining these milestones, the ECU Student Guild can ensure that their organisational efforts go first and foremost to the support of the ECU student body over the interests of outside groups.

POWA Anime Club meets neither of these requirements and, as such, has lost association status with the ECU Student Guild and no longer can make use of ECU facilities and equipment – including rooms, projectors and internet connections.

As such, POWA is announcing a hiatus.

All on-campus events, including our regular Sunday screenings and our upcoming RPG/Board Games events, are currently postponed or cancelled until further notice.
However, POWA is currently in the process of investigating and forming new connections with the City of Joondalup, the ECU Administration and other clubs that operate on the ECU Campus. These connections and collaborations will, hopefully, provide POWA with a workaround and allow us to continue hosting our events – either on the ECU Campus, or at a nearby location.

Off-Campus events, such as our My Hero Academia film outing, will still be hosted as planned. POWA’s online presence will also be maintained – our official Discord will run as-is, with our Ghibli Marathons and Going Home Club series proceeding uninterrupted.

We cannot say how long this hiatus will last – it may take several weeks to find a satisfactory solution, or our problems may be solved in a matter of days.

POWA has had many faces among its membership over the years, and we would like to thank each and every one of them for their support. We would also like to thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue.

For updates, please keep a close eye on our Facebook feed, POWAClub.com, our Discord’s announcement channel and your Email inbox.

If you have any questions please contact the committee directly. We are reachable on Facebook, on Discord or by Email. All of our contact information can be found at powaclub.com/contact/.
