POWA Anime Club Joondalup WA

Event Location: Event Cinemas Innaloo

The first movie outing of the year is on the horizon, POWA was polled, and a date chosen. This time POWA is off to see the live-action drama adaptation of “Oshi No Ko”, in “Oshi No Ko -The Final Act-“!

Specifically, the 3:30pm Session, on Feburary 1st, at Event Cinemas Innaloo!

A synopsis provided by our friends at SugoiCo:

“Based on the hit manga series by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, The worldwide hit [Oshi no Ko] has finally been made into a movie! Capturing the hearts of many with its fantastical setting of reincarnation, suspenseful elements that do not shy away from shocking depictions, and its unique and innovative story that does not hesitate to delve into the complex world of showbiz. [Oshi No Ko] – The Final Act serves as both a origin and finale to the drama series streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.”

Also generously provided by our friends at SugoiCo are two “Admit 2” Passes! So if the cost of entry at a cinema is holding you back just a little, let that colour your choice making!

Now, standard housekeeping applies; While the movie is scheduled for a 3:30 start, we ask that everyone arrives with enough time beforehand to find the group, buy their tickets, but their snacks and in all ways prepare for the film BEFORE it starts. And, as always, POWA is unable to guarantee a seat in the cinema; if the tickets are sold out, then you may miss out. Perhaps pre-purchasing your ticket might be a good idea?

We hope to see you there!

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

POWA returned last week to a scorcher of a Sunday – and is back this week for a thankfully less mind-and-body melting screening!

Voting abounds this week, as POWA votes on three of our shows – The Apothecary Diaries, Wisteria: Wand and Sword and 86 Part 2 are all up for vote this week – much like how last week we voted for the last time on Jujutsu Kaisen, which it passed, meaning its in our lineup until its final episode!

So, consider this another call to check that your membership is up-to-date, just in case you want a say in what stays in and what gets out!

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

We hope to see you there!

We’re baaaaaaaaaaaack!~

As promised, POWA returns for 2025 with our first regular screening of the year!

All of the shows we were watching in 2024 have made it across Crunchyroll’s library into 2025, so our lineup remains unaffected from the previous screening. If you are struggling to recall what we were watching, the shows and episodes are all listed below, so have a look and rewatch if that’s what you need to do.

That all said, as if to kick POWA off with a democratic bang, our Action & Sports series “Jujutsu Kaisen” has its final, episode 20, vote this screening. Remember that voting on a series is a right only given to those with active POWA membership, so make sure your cards are on hand and up to date!
