POWA Screening, 10th September 2023

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

POWA’s exciting weekly screenings continue!

POWA attended Evolve Expo last weekend and had a great time. Thank you to new and recurring POWA members. Also thank you to the attendees and volunteers who helped make all this possible.

Our Best Boy/Girl votes have been tallied and the results will be displayed tomorrow on the Character Polls section of our website. There were a surprisingly high number of votes this time around. With a close call for the Boys vote and a clear favourite for the Girls.

Last screening Hellsing survived its final vote and stays in until completion. The other Vampire Irina is up for voting as a candidate. She’s determined not to lose and make it to the Moon. Will her wish be fulfilled?

This week Trigun reaches its long awaited half way point when things are expected to take a tonal shift. A vote will determine Vash’s future. Next week we have Uramichi Oniisan’s final vote and Astra Lost in Space has its first due to the double episode length.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests. However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting room, of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

This Week’s Schedule:
1:00PM – Library Doors Open
1:30PM – Trigun – Episode 12 (Sci-Fi,Vote)
2:00PM – Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan – Episode 7 (Comedy)

THE FIRST SLAM DUNK – Movie Outing

Location: Event Cinemas Innaloo
Date: Friday, August 25 2023
Time: 6:30PM – 8:30PM

POWA is back on the court and ready to slam. We are off to see the popular Basketball anime and manga series Slam Dunk in the cinemas. It was uncertain we were going to get the movie here but much to our surprise, it’s finally arrived.

It’s been a busy year with movie outings and it’s not stopping here. We have The First Slam Dunk now and Shin Ultraman on the horizon!

POWA has voted to go see it on Friday, August 25 6:30PM at Event Cinemas Innaloo. In the original Japanese audio. The film starts at 6:30PM, but as we cannot book ahead, we cannot guarantee seats in the cinema. Ensure that you arrive early enough to purchase your tickets at the counter so you don’t end up disappointed.

The film is described as such:
Follows 17-year-old Ryota Miyagi who struggles to accomplish his late elder brother’s dream of becoming a basketball star.

We hope to see you there for The First Slam Dunk!

The Facebook event can be found here.
