POWA Screening, 16th April 2023

POWA’s exciting weekly screenings continue!

POWA will be repeating the schedule listed for April 2nd 2023 here: Due to a lower than expected turnout during our opening time. The decision was made so that our regular attendees can experience anime and voting together as a community.

Previously Log Horizon survived its final vote. This week there will be voting on three shows. Fruits Basket, Kanon and Claymore. As well as the final episodes of Comic Girls and Hinomaru Sumo.

Next week, we’ll begin trailling a new lineup of five shows instead of the regular six. To give us more break time and possibly do other activities. This will be a month long trial to gauge community feedback. Other changes to the lineup include; The Comedy slot will now alternate with SoL/Romance. The Sports/Games slot will be rotating to Action, as we vote in a new show.

A special AMV screening will held on April 23rd using the extra break time available. As well as voting for a new Action show. The suggestion threads for both are up on Discord. The closing date is April 20th at 6PM. Prior to this screening, POWA will also be attending Makoto Shinkai’s latest film Suzume. On April 15th at 6:40PM in Event Cinemas Innaloo. The Super Mario Bros. Movie – Outing

Location: Event Cinemas Innaloo
Date: Friday, April 7, 2023
Time: 6:00PM – 8:00PM

POWA has decided to Lets-a-go! to the new The Super Mario Bros Movie, our first non-anime outing in some time. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a computer-animated fantasy film based on Nintendo’s Mario video game franchise.

POWA has voted to go see it on Friday, April 7, at 6:00PM in Event Cinemas Innaloo. The movie starts at 6:00PM, but as we cannot book ahead, we cannot guarantee seats in the cinema. Ensure that you arrive early enough to purchase your tickets at the counter so you don’t end up disappointed.

The movie is described as such:
A plumber named Mario travels through an underground labyrinth with his brother, Luigi, trying to save a captured princess.

Last week Log Horizon survived its final vote. This week there will be voting on three shows. Fruits Basket, Kanon and Claymore. As well as the final episodes of Comic Girls and Hinomaru Sumo. A special surprise is also planned during this screening.

There’s no screening next weekend on April 9th due to the Easter holiday. When POWA returns on April 16th, we will begin trailling a new lineup of five shows instead of the regular six. This will be a month long trial to gauge community feedback. Other changes to the lineup include; The Comedy slot will now alternate with SoL/Romance. The Sports/Games slot will be rotating to Action, as we vote in a new show.

POWA will be attending the new The Super Mario Bros Movie, our first non anime outing in some time. On Friday, April 7th 6:00PM at Event Cinemas Innaloo. Makoto Shinkai’s latest film Suzume will be released during the week before POWA meets again on April 13-16. A poll is now open. Be on the lookout for events for these movies soon!

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests. However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting room, of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.
