POWA Anime Club Joondalup WA

Massive thanks to all those who came to last weekend’s AGM and Election! While the new Committee gets a grip on things and while POWA winds down for the final screening of this year, it’s time for a (little bit delayed) preview of what’s airing this season in the world of Anime!

From post-apocalyptic motorcycle exploration to an exiled princess with a penchant for punching people, there is always a bit of variety to be seen. There’s even a few Isekai!

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

POWA AGM & Committee Election, 16th November, 2025

Please Note: This is not a regular screening open to the public! This is a closed door meeting for POWA Membership only. If you have not got POWA membership and would like to attend, please inform us prior to the meeting so we can be ready to make you a member before we start! If you are not a member, but still wish to attend, you may ask a committee member for permission – though you will still not be permitted to speak, discuss, vote or raise topics during the meeting or election. There will be no entertainment during this meeting!

POWA reaches the end of its 2024/2025 committee year this weekend. As such, it’s back to our own little polls for the chance for the POWA membership to decide on the running committee for the 2025/2026 year!

Before we get to that, though, POWA will be holding the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

This will be much like a greater length quarterly General Meeting with a general focus on major activities, events and milestones for the club, as well as a general catch up on everything from club relationships to our finances.

Towards the end of the AGM, we will also be hosting our election.

If you are interested in nominating yourself for the POWA committee, there are a few steps you need to do; First, ensure you have active POWA membership, and second, email us your name and a clear statement of intent to be on the POWA committee at POWAClub@gmail.com.

There will be an opportunity for you to self-nominate on the day, prior to the election, but there may be additional steps for you to take if you do so.

If you wish to vote at this meeting, but are unable to attend, you may nominate a proxy on your behalf. This will need to be done in writing at least 24 hours prior to the AGM and Election, but they will be able to act on your behalf during the AGM and the Election.

If you are nominated for the committee, but are unable to attend, please inform the POWA committee as soon as practical, so we may take additional measures to ensure a fair election.

POWA Screening, 9th November, 2025

If this event looks suspiciously similar to the event for the 2nd November, thats because it is. Similar, i mean. Not suspicious.

Due to reasons that are extremely valid, we did not watch our lineup last week. So this week we do that instead!

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Last week saw a vote for our Mature, Horror & Thriller slot, and this time around POWA’s community has decided to continue on with Vinland Saga in its Season 2!

A bit more voting like it this week, as well, since last week was also the finale of our Action/Sports series “The Elusive Samurai” – so this week, we vote to replace it. We also vote on whether or not to continue our Cultural & Historical series “Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf” as it has reached its first vote, episode 4.

And, finally, it is now the Final month of this committee!

POWA’s AGM and Election is scheduled for the 16th of November. If you wish to run for POWA’s Committee in the 2025/2026 year, you are required to nominate yourself to the POWA Committee. The best way to do so is to email us at POWAClub@gmail.com with your name and a clear statement of intent to run for committee. If you are interested, but unsure, feel free to reach out to the current committee, as we are more than willing to answer any and all questions we can about what being a committee member looks like.
