POWA’s regular weekly screenings continue with our penultimate screening of the year!

Last week, we voted in the post-apocalyptic genre spanner ‘WorldEnd’ into our Drama slot. We also made sure to keep watching the first season of ‘Fruits Basket’ to its conclusion with a vote from members.

This week, we’ll be deciding whether we stand to attention or drift off on our comedy ‘Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle’. We are also coming to the end of the increasingly complex mystery of ‘In/Spectre’ with the final episode. Instead of voting in a new Mature show next week, the slot will instead be taken over by this year’s POWA Retrospective!

Speaking of, we’re still taking suggestions from members on a variety of categories to celebrate each and every series we finished watching in 2021. The form to do so will be open until this coming Thursday: https://forms.gle/Pj45hynmYRnX3poi6

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests. However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting room, of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

Last week, we finished up the second season of ‘Golden Kamuy’ with a dramatic cliffhanger! May we all hope that season three makes it to the club at some point. For now, we’re looking for a Drama show to replace it in our line-up. Suggestions are already open on our Facebook group and website.

In terms of voting, ‘Kaiji’ survived its first vote last week! This week we’ll be doing the same with ‘Fruits Basket’, which is up for its final vote. With several shows coming close to ending, along with POWA coming close to an end-of-year break, there’s a lot to get excited about!

POWA will also be running its annual Retrospective on the year during our final screening, December 12th. We’re taking suggestions from members on a variety of categories to celebrate each and every series we finished watching in 2021. The form to do so is here.

Last week, we voted in a new comedy series – the royal quest for a nap known as ‘Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle’. Members also voted to continue ‘Planet With’ to its conclusion, which happens to fall on the final screening of the year!

This week, we’ll turn our voting to ‘Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor’ to see if members wish to continue past the initial four episodes. We’ll also be saying goodbye to our journey through the second season of ‘Golden Kamuy’ with what will surely be an epic conclusion. We’ll be looking for suggestions for a Drama series to replace it as soon as we finish.
