POWA Screening, 22nd August 2021

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

POWA’s regular weekly screenings continue!

Last week, POWA reached the end of our Drama show ‘Durarara’, which means for the first time in over 10 weeks, we’ll be getting a brand new show! Within the category of Cultural & Historical, we are already looking for suggestions from the community in our Facebook Group and Website. During the screening, 5 nominations will go up against each other, with members voting the new series in.

While last week, my inability to count meant that we indeed did not have to vote whether or not we kept watching ‘Psycho-Pass’, we will definitely be deciding if ‘Fruits Basket’ stays in our line-up through member vote. 99% sure.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests. However, your first time is free! We will be in the upstairs meeting room, of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

This Week’s Schedule:
1:00PM – Library Doors Open
1:30PM – Fruits Basket (2019) – Episode 8 (Slice of Life/Romance/Arthouse, Voting)
2:00PM – The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. – Episode 15 (Comedy)
2:30PM – Yona of the Dawn – Episode 22 (Fantasy)
3:00PM – Break, Raffle Draw and voting for Cultural & Historical
3:15PM – NEW Cultural & Historical show
3:45PM – Psycho-Pass – Episode 21 (Mature/Horror/Thriller)
4:15PM – Assassination Classroom Final Season – Episode 18 (Action)

The Facebook event can be found here.

We hope to see you there!

POWA Screening, 15th August 2021

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

POWA’s regular weekly screenings continue!

Last week, POWA chose to keep in both our fantasy series ‘Yona of the Dawn’ and our action series ‘Assassination Classroom’ as we head into the final arcs of both. This week, members be voting whether to do the same with our mature show ‘Psych-Pass’. We’ll also be reaching the end of our drama shoe ‘Durarara!!’, which will be switching over to a cultural/historical show – keep an eye out for the suggestion thread!

Finally, this week will also bring about changes to the prices of POWA’s shop. In order to balance the books while hiring the library meeting room, we are increasing the price of all food and drink. To make up for this, discounts through buying items together will be available. Full details will be shown during the screening and we’ll have a sheet available with all the info!

Evangelion Month on POWA’s Discord

As a follow up to our successful Discord “Gundam Month” (the final part – Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, happening tonight at 7pm!) POWA is doing another Discord watchalong series.

To celebrate the long-awaited worldwide release of the final chapter in the Rebuild of Evangelion saga on Amazon Prime Video – EVANGELION: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, we’ll be watching the entire Rebuild series with Amazon Prime’s “Watch Party” feature. If you have your own copy, we’ll make it easy enough to sync them up too. Read more on the “Watch Party” feature here.

These films are a modern retelling of the original television series, taking the story to some very different places. As such they can be enjoyed by both fans and newcomers of the franchise:

  • EVANGELION: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone (2007) – Saturday, August 14th, 7pm
  • EVANGELION: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (2009) – Saturday, August 21st, 7pm
  • EVANGELION: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo (2012) – Saturday, August 28th, 7pm
  • EVANGELION: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time (2021) – Saturday, September 4th, 7pm
