Location: Little Robot

One of POWAs sponsors, the model kit workshop Little Robot, is letting us have a kit-bash event at their store!

Kit-bashing, for those not in the know, is the delicate art of taking a whole bunch of parts from a whole bunch of different, but compatible, GUNPLA kits, and… bashing them together to create something awesome, weird, or weirdly awesome. With just a little bit of elbow grease, creativity, and fevered imagination, you can have the opportunity to create something completely unique.

POWA Will even be running our own little competition – the attendee who creates the greatest model at the end of the event, as decided by the attendees, will walk away with $40 in store credit!

Little Robot, locally owned and operated, offers a huge range of Gundam, Mecha, Sci-Fi and Anime model kits, and prides itself on its role in their support of local anime clubs, events and other community groups in Perth. They have been a sponsor of POWA for a long time now, providing us with stock for events and discounts for our members – details of which can be found on the sponsors page on the POWAClub website.

This is event is scheduled for a 2PM start at their Myaree store, and will run for approximately 3 hours. Entry to this event will be $15 – but will also net you a Kit, access and introduction to the bashing set, and a guided build session with one of the store Builders.

Since Little Robot’s store is a little bit further away than most POWA event locations, we will be investigating some ride share options – if you are interested in catching a ride from someone in the POWA Community, make sure you follow the event and arrive at our regular screening on the 8th for details.

Location: Grand Cinemas Joondalup

Probably the biggest anime movie event of the year, “Weathering With You”, is arriving in Perth Cinemas, and POWA is off to the silver screens to catch it. From famous director Makoto Shinkai, director of films such as “Your Name” and “The Garden Of Words”, this film is very likely to be one of the biggest anime films yet.

We will be meeting up at Grand Cinemas Joondalup to catch the 7:15PM Session.

POWA is going to have several cheap or deal passes available to us for the screening, but note that these are not guaranteed tickets – ensure that you arrive early enough to buy a place in what may be an extremely busy screening. Respond, on Facebook, to this event with “Going”, and keep your eyes on your Facebook feed for updates and news.

Anime! Games! Anime and Games! What’s not to love?!

You are invited to join the POWA Community for a day of Gaming fun – Video games, Board Games, Card Games, Quizzes – all gaming is welcome at this event! For those who are less inclined to games, or for those who want a break during the event, POWA will also be screening a selection of anime from Crunchyroll and Animelab, and our Manga and Digital library will be on site for everyone to browse!

Entry to this event will be $5 for all attendees – there will be competitions and prizes, as well as a raffle, to go on throughout the night, and membership will be available for a discounted price.
We do ask that people bring a Mobile Phone, as some games and Quizzes will require it, and highly encourage everyone to bring any and all Board Games, Card Games and Portable Consoles. Nintendo Switches will be in high demand, and the more Joycons to go around, the better!

POWA will be using room B4.236 at ECU Joondalup. This is a new room for POWA, so make sure to check the Joondalup Campus maps to make sure you don’t get lost.

The event will start at Midday, and run until 8:00pm.
