POWA Fall Seasonal Preview, 27th October, 2024

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Let’s end the POWA Committee of 2023/2024 with a bang by bringing the latest releases from Japan to you, the POWA Community!

A bumper crop of anime is coming out for the Fall 2024 season, and weve selected a number of the new series to screen at this nights event. Which ones, precisely, we are keeping a little quiet, but you are likely to guess a few from the murmurings around the anime community… and from the above image.

And, for the final time of this POWA Committee, the anime doesn’t stop with the screening in person – the “After Party” will be held on our POWA Discord to get across even more shows – mostly those in the various “Jails” that make up the release websites. If you want to join in on the After Party, join our Discord – you can find links on our Website’s “About” page!

The schedule for the shows to be screened at the After Party will be made available at the conclusion of the in-person event, allowing people a chance to get their streaming services active again, as well as allowing people to pick-and-choose what shows that want to hit.

Finally, an important reminder: This is the final screening of the POWA 2023/2024 committee. Meaning that the week after this will be POWA’s AGM and Election. Details for everything that entails can be found in its own event on our various socials, but it does bear repeating that this means nominations for Committee are now in their final week. Please read those events for all the details!

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests. However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting room, of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

We hope to see you there!

POWA AGM and Election 2024, 3rd November

That’s right, It is that time again, it’s time for POWA’s Annual General Meeting. And yes, that means that POWA’s Committee’s 2023/2024 run is coming to a close, which will bring forth a new committee to run POWA in 2024/2025 in the form of an Election.

If you are interested in running for committee in the 2024/2025 year – Feel free to email us at powaclub@gmail.com, and state your full name, and your expression of interest for running for committee.
If a nominee is unable to be present at the AGM, they will still be able to present themselves to members in absentia. Contact a member of the current committee for any questions on the nomination process. You must have an Active POWA Membership in order to apply for Committee beforehand.

But before the Election happens, POWA’s 2023/2024 committee will be discussing important subjects matters such as:
– What transpired behind the scenes of POWA during their final quarter.
– Summary of events that had occurred over the course of 3 months prior.
– POWA’s financial update through the 2023/2024 year, and
– Review of POWA’s Committee year between the last AGM and this AGM.

You can view the full agenda of the 2024 AGM by clicking, or tapping here

Additionally to this AGM agenda, we will also be passing a special motion during the AGM to propose an amendment to one of POWA’s By Laws regarding Anime Selection & Voting Rules. You can view the current and the proposed amendment of both documents down below.
As always, you can only attend, vote and speak in our AGM if you’re currently holding an active POWA membership prior before the AGM commences.

Members may nominate an ordinary member as proxy to vote and speak on their behalf, if that member is unable to attend. A notice of appointment of this proxy, signed by the appointee must be given to the committee prior to the commencement of the committee. This can be immediately before the AGM in the form of a physical note, or 24 hours before the AGM in the form of a digital message or email.

Thank you to all of your support this year. Here’s to you, the POWA Community, for helping us keep the spirit of POWA Anime Club alive and well. We look forward to seeing what the next committee brings throughout 2024/2025.

Trapezium Film Outing, 1st October, 2024

Event Location: Event Cinemas Innaloo

To the movies again with POWA, this time to see the Idol anime film based on a novel written by a real Japanese Idol, “Trapezium”!

The poll was run, and a time decided; this time, we are off to see the film on October 1st, 6:30pm, at Event Cinemas Innaloo!

As always, though the movie will start at 6:30pm, it is highly recommended that you arrive early enough to get everything in order – that is, to find the group, buy your ticket, any snacks and drinks and so on and so forth.

And, as always, POWA is not able to guarantee a seat in the cinema – either purchase your ticket in advance, arrive earlier than usual to buy one, or run the possibility of arriving to a booked-out cinema.

“Driven by an unwavering desire to become an idol, ambitious Joshu East High School student Yu Azuma embarks on a journey to form an idol group. To make her dream a reality, she recruits one girl from each of her region’s four high schools (located to the north, east, south and west).

Joining Yu is Ranko Kashima, a sophisticated second-year student at Holy Teneritas Southern Girls’ Academy, Kurumi Taiga, a student at West Tech Vocational High School with aspirations in robots, and Mika Kamei, a kind hearted student from Joshu North High School. With the help of Shinji Kudo, Yu’s “collaborator” and confidante, these four girls set off on the road to stardom, unaware of the challenges that lie ahead of them…”

We hope to see you there!
