POWA Anime Club Joondalup WA

The latest film from the director of films like “Summer Wars” and “Belle”, Mamoru Hosoda, is coming to cinema! POWA was polled, and a time and space chosen:

Hoyts Cinema Warwick, and the 6:30pm session this coming Friday, the 6th of February.

It has been a while since POWA has attended an outing to the Warwick Cinema, so make sure you double check your route and don’t get lost!

Do remember that POWA cannot promise that there will be seats available in the cinema for this session, so it is recommended that if you are concerned, you either show up early to get your ticket or book one in advance. It is also recommended that you show up to the cinema early enough to find the group, buy your ticket and get whatever snack bar accoutrements you need to equip yourself with before the film starts – no one is going to be waiting for you outside if you’re late!

Naturally, there will almost certainly be people organising meeting up or discussing the film on Discord before and during the event – so keep an eye on that if you want to get in on the topics!

POWA Winter Seasonal Preview, February 1st, 2026

Hey, did you know it’s winter in Japan?

Jealous?

Me too.

Did you also know they release anime seasonally? Well, don’t be jealous, since a bunch of the new releases are coming to our community this screening, with our Winter Seasonal Preview!

In place of our regular schedule, the newest of the medium will be filling the screen. Smol adorable demon princesses (“Smol” doesn’t get a red squiggly line under it. huh), to workplace romcoms where people are just a little bit more transparently in love than usual, and even a few shows where someone ends up in a fantasy world after dying, this season has a whole lot on offer!

And no worries about what gets left out by our limited timeslot – we’ve got a continued watchalong after POWA, on our discord. Perhaps now would be a good opportunity to join it, if youve not yet done so?

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

POWA General Meeting 1, 31st January, 2026

POWA is hosting its first General Meeting of the 2025/2026 committee year.

During this meeting, the POWA committee will outline the organisational aspects of the club over the quarter since the AGM and Election, as well as detail our plans and initiatives we have on the books for the rest of the year to come.

This meeting is to be a members-only meeting, though if you are a non-member and wish to listen in, you may request the right to do so: contact the POWA committee through any of the normal contact methods – Discord, Facebook, Email or our websites Contact Us form – and the committee will walk through the required steps with you.

The meeting is to be held online, on POWA’s official discord. It is scheduled to start at 3:00pm, Saturday, 31st of January.

If you are unable to attend this meeting, and wish to have access to the meeting’s minutes, you can request access to them from the POWA committee after the meeting.

Your attendance at this meeting will be recorded in the minutes, and the minutes will include both audio recording and written forms. If you do not wish to be recorded at this meeting, do not attend this meeting.
