Location: Beaumaris Community Centre
STOP!
WHOSE TURN IS IT?
OFF TO THE BLACK HOLE!
Or, if that’s too dark for you, the Beaumaris Community Centre for what appears to be the final event of the POWA Committee for this year.
With the date for Halloween lining up with the weekend perfectly, POWA is going to celebrate the holiday with the absolute classic Australian board game – “Nightmare”!
Using only the most advanced technology of the era – a VHS Tape – POWA intends for our members to join us on a journey through hell, guided by all the cheese one man in makeup and a hood can provide to us in a night!
Metaphors aside, Nightmare – also known as Atmosfear – is an Australian millennial classic board game, featuring fondly in memories world-wide. For a night of spoopy fun, we are going to bring it along to share with the group.
Nightmare is a relatively straightforward affair, so no need to look up instructions or guides, and it is a self-contained board game, so no need to bring your own kit. Now, the game does only support up to 6 players at a single time, but it is a game played on a timer – specifically, a one-hour timer, so multiple sessions are planned.
But in the meantime, if you aren’t in on the Nightmare session, we do plan to bring (and encourage others to also bring) some other board games of a generally spoopy theme for us to all enjoy.
We have booked the Beaumaris Community Centre – featured previously in POWA events such as the Tabletop RPGs day and the Video Games day – from 4:15pm to midnight on Saturday, the 31st of October. We don’t necessarily plan to use the room for that entire time slot, but it was too good an opportunity to miss out on a midnight booking.
The event will be free entry, but we wont be offering food or drink for the event as we all plan to be playing games instead. You are of course encouraged to slip across the way to the IGA or food shops located at the Beaumaris Shopping Centre, though!
And finally, we also encourage people to dress up for the occasion! You, of course, absolutely dont need to dress up if you cant or dont want to, but if you have a cosplay gathering dust, feel free to put on that robe and wizard hat.
We hope to see you there!
