POWA AGM & Committee Election, 16th November, 2025

Please Note: This is not a regular screening open to the public! This is a closed door meeting for POWA Membership only. If you have not got POWA membership and would like to attend, please inform us prior to the meeting so we can be ready to make you a member before we start! If you are not a member, but still wish to attend, you may ask a committee member for permission – though you will still not be permitted to speak, discuss, vote or raise topics during the meeting or election. There will be no entertainment during this meeting!

POWA reaches the end of its 2024/2025 committee year this weekend. As such, it’s back to our own little polls for the chance for the POWA membership to decide on the running committee for the 2025/2026 year!

Before we get to that, though, POWA will be holding the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

This will be much like a greater length quarterly General Meeting with a general focus on major activities, events and milestones for the club, as well as a general catch up on everything from club relationships to our finances.

The agenda for this GM can be viewed on this link.

Towards the end of the AGM, we will also be hosting our election.

If you are interested in nominating yourself for the POWA committee, there are a few steps you need to do; First, ensure you have active POWA membership, and second, email us your name and a clear statement of intent to be on the POWA committee at POWAClub@gmail.com.

There will be an opportunity for you to self-nominate on the day, prior to the election, but there may be additional steps for you to take if you do so.

If you wish to vote at this meeting, but are unable to attend, you may nominate a proxy on your behalf. This will need to be done in writing at least 24 hours prior to the AGM and Election, but they will be able to act on your behalf during the AGM and the Election.

If you are nominated for the committee, but are unable to attend, please inform the POWA committee as soon as practical, so we may take additional measures to ensure a fair election.

If you have any further questions, concerns or wish to raise a point or feedback for this meeting, please feel free to reach out to POWA on any of our contacts.

This meeting will be recorded both in writing and audio formats. You attending this meeting is assumed permission; if you do not wish to be recorded at this meeting, do not attend this meeting.

We hope to see you there!

This week’s schedule:

POWA Screening & AMV Spectacular, 19th October, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Upstairs Meeting Room

Less than a month to our AGM and what looks likely to be POWA’s last major event before the new committee – our AMV Spectacular!

Thanks to everyone submitting what is surely only the highest quality music set to anime (Or is it anime set to music?) We are able to bring to everyone some distilled musical experiences, this week, located entirely within our break period!

While everyone gets to look forward to that, we also do non-musical anime things!

Biggest news of last week is our new Cultural & Historical series “Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf” – the remake slash reboot of the series first seen in the succinctly titled “Spice and Wolf” from 2006. And, while we were at it, we also had our second vote on our Fantasy series “Friren: Beyond Journeys End” when we finished its 8th episode – and, since it passed, it is continuing in our lineup!

This week has something ending, though – our Mature, Horror & Thriller series “Vinland Saga” reaches its final, 24th episode. I’m sure it’s going to be a happy sunny smiley conclusion for everyone involved! Right? Well, we are also voting on our currently ongoing Slice of Life/Romance series “My Roommate is a Cat”, so if that grimdark series isn’t floating your boat, now will be your chance to have a word with it.

POWA’s AGM and Election is scheduled for the 16th of November.

The committee year of 2024/2025 is fast approaching its final screenings and it is time for our scheduled AGM and Election. While the full details for that meeting will be posted in its own event, it is worth jotting down the day of the AGM and Election in your calendars.

We are also nominations for those who are interested to be on the POWA Committee. In order for your nomination to count, you are required to email us at POWAClub@gmail.com with your name and clearly and unambiguously state your intention to run for the POWA Committee. For those who are interested, but unsure of just what being on the POWA Committee looks like, you may also contact the committee by that email, our socials or in person for any questions you might have.

Entry for our weekly screenings is $4 for members and $5 for guests – However, your first time is free! Every entry prior to our break receives a raffle ticket for a weekly prize. We will be in the upstairs meeting rooms of the City of Joondalup Library. Our doors will open at the same time as the library – 1:00PM – and we will start screening at 1:30PM, leaving you time to find the room and settle down with some drinks and snacks.

We hope to see you there!

POWA Board Games Day, 11th October, 2025

Location: Joondalup Library, Ground Floor Meeting Room

Time again for some board games!

Much like last time, back in August, it’s time for another board games day. Located in the ground-floor meeting rooms, and starting at 9:30am on Saturday, the 11th, the day before our regular POWA Screening, POWA invites all of the community to bring their favourite games of cardboard to the group with the intent of sharing in the dice-rolling, card-flipping, manual-rules-lawyering goodness that is your board games!

Like last time, this board games day will be something of a free-for-all – bring whatever board games you have, and see what people feel like playing…

…But this time, we are also absolutely threatening everyone with the promise to get as many people as possible playing more involved, longer-session boardgames. If youve got something that really isnt just a throw-down-and-play game that you just are desperate to get someone on board with, why not bring it – or better yet, get a discussion going on the POWA Discord?

Entry to this event will be free. POWA will also not be selling food or drink at this event – while the library does offer water bubblers and have vending machines, if you seek something a bit more tasty or filling, feel free to run for lunch!

Finally, POWA’s screening for the weekend – on the 12th – will still run, so those who think that their weekends simply don’t have enough POWA will finally learn that there can be too much POWA. Or still not enough. Up to you.

We hope to see you there!

9:30am – Doors Open

3:30pm – Pack up

4:00pm – Library Close
